Cowon S9 firmware update adds Bluetooth speaker support

December 25th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Mobile Phone
12-25-08-cowon-s9-bluetooth For early adopters who have already taken delivery of their shiny new Cowon S9, they've already sucked down one firmware update to fix some of the more obvious issues. Now, there's round number two (v2.06) to endure. The company has loosed the second firmware update for its just birthed PMP, with this one adding JPG album art support (for files with the .jpg extension) and fixing a bug that occasionally caused a system reboot after the "remove hardware from PC" message appeared. Most notable, however, is the new inclusion of Bluetooth speaker support, meaning that this device can now stream tunes to BT-enabled sound systems sans cabling or any other black magic.

TG Sambo releases well-equipped LLUON B2 all-in-one The LLUON B2 isn't TG Sambo's first LLUON all-in-one, but it's the first one we've seen that doesn't wear its iMac inspiration on its sleeve -- or rip off a variant of itself. This well-equipped AIO packs a 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400 processor, 320GB hdd, and an NVIDIA GeForce 9300 graphics card with 256MB of video memory. This sleek 26-inch monster is designed to look like a TV and rocks a slot-loading DVD burner and an eSATA port, as well as the usual assortment of ports and integrated webcam. It's currently available in Korea for ₩ 1,899,000 ($1,421) -- but look on the bright side, that's a whole lot of screen real estate. Tags:

Video distribution coming to Japan Wiis early 2009, overseas later

December 25th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Gaming
nintendo-wii-std Starting early next year, Nintendo will be joining the ranks of its fellow console makers in offering a video distribution service through the Wii. According to Nikkei business daily, The House of Mario will team up with Dentsu, Inc. to offer cartoons and other programs created specifically for the service, and since they're using the phrase "new revenue stream," we doubt it's gonna be offered gratis. Videophiles shouldn't expect much magic, either, given the console's 512MB memory limit and 480p max resolution. The service will launch first in Japan and head overseas later. Hey Nintendo, if you really want to emulate your competition, how about an online social network that doesn't require long strings of integers?

Intel Ships 160 GB X25-M SSD and X18-M SSD

intel-160gb-x25-m-ssd

Intel has announced that it has started shipping its latest X25-M 2.5-inch solid state drive for laptops.

Okay, so maybe Intel’s running a bit behind schedule, but it’s not like you can afford this thing anyway. The outfit has just announced that its 2.5-inch X25-M SSD is finally shipping in a 160GB flavor, though it politely declined to insult us with a presumably stratospheric sticker. Of note, the 1.8-inch X18-M counterpart should join it on select store shelves “next month.” Hmm, are we feeling a joint debut with a gaming notebook and / or ultraportable at CES? Yes, yes we are.

In addition to that, the company has also announced its plans to roll out the 160 GB model of its 1.8-inch SSD SATA drive, dubbed X18-M, in January for ultraportable laptops.

Both the Intel X25-M and X18-M SSDs are based on NAND flash memory. They offer faster boot times in PCs and reduction in overheating. Working on MLC multilevel cell storage technology, the 160 GB X25-M SSD offers read speeds of up to 250Mbps and write speed of 70 Mbps.

The Intel X25-E SSD that uses single-level cell technology has also been introduced for servers, storage, and high-end workstations.

Price wise, the 160GB X25-M and the X18-M SSDs are expected to cost $945

Sony VAIO Japanese teaser suggests something long, thin, and “coming soon”

December 24th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Desktop PC & Notebook
sony_vaio_jp Sony is continuing its drip drip of teasers on a new entry to its VAIO line with a Japanese placeholder sure to pique just the slightest bit of curiosity. When you venture over to the company's co.jp landing page , you're greeting with a quick Flash animation of a woman pulling a long, thin rectangle out of her clutch... which ends up being an envelope reading "VAIO New Mobile, Coming Soon." Your guess is as good as ours -- as long as you're guessing it's this thing. Tags: , ,

Snapture Flash adds crappy flash to crappy iPhone camera

December 23rd, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in iPhone
snapture The iPhone's camera may be thoroughly eclipsed by several of its competitors, but the insane popularity of Apple's baby means that we've seen tons of accessories aimed at making that 2.1 megapixel sensor somewhat more useful -- like the Snapture Flash here, which tucks a xenon flash with red-eye reduction into a sleeve-type case. Although it's powered by the phone, it's apparently quite low-power -- SnaptureLabs estimates that you'll take 1000 shots before going dry -- and there's some sort of "speaker amplification" built in as well, just in case you're super into enhancing mediocre parts of the iPhone experience. Bad news? You'll have to jailbreak your phone to get the Snapture app working -- hopefully that'll be remedied by the time this thing ships. Tags: ,

X-mini Capsule Speaker (Very Reasonable)

Great Quality speaker for Ipod

Great Quality speaker for Ipod

The world’s smallest speaker with a built-in bass support and rechargeable battery. Interesting how the folks from Singapore manage to fit bass support into this tiny speaker.
Truly a speaker like none other before.
“X-mini Capsule speaker ” name derived from the design and shape of the
speaker……….

The X-Mini capsule speaker is the solution for people who want volume from a laptop portable audio device that either doesn’t have a speaker or has tiny speakers that aren’t up to the job of delivering a wide dynamic response at reasonable listening volume.
