First Google Chrome OS screenshots leaked?

First Google Chrome OS screenshots leaked?
t’s not much, in fact, these screenshots are incredibly easy to fake. Still, a hastily constructed WordPress blog has been setup to host what are claimed to be the world’s first screenshots of Google’s new Chrome OS — hailed as both a Microsoft Windows and Apple OS X killer or Google FUD generator depending upon who you’re listening to. As the story is told, a Google representative demonstrated a private beta build of the OS to an anonymous Acer parts supplier yesterday, presumably somewhere in Taiwan. The picture above was grabbed breathlessly while the Google rep was distracted. Highlights of the demonstration break down as follows:- More »

OS X Runs (Poorly, We Admit) on Sony Vaio P

Well, looks like it is possible to run OS X on Sony’s teeny Vaio P netbook, but it’s no perfect Dell Mini 9 hackintosh. It looks like a difficult and imperfect crack, yet it still somehow runs better than Vista. More »

Windows 7 E coming to Europe without Internet Explorer

Windows 7 E coming to Europe without Internet Explorer

Likely being mindful of the ever-watchful eye of the European Union, Microsoft’s announced its Euro version of Windows 7, affectionately and officially dubbed Windows 7 E, will not come packaged with Internet Explorer, or any other browser for that matter. Of course that’s not the whole story, as OEMs will be provided free copies of IE8 to bundle themselves alongside / instead of other browser options, and consumers can pick up their own copies via CD, FTP, or retail channels. This is undoubtedly in response to the antitrust cases the EU keeps throwing Microsoft’s way, and while we wouldn’t be surprised to see it end up on almost every European computer sold, we do wonder if this will at all speed up IE’s already rapidly diminishing share in the war of web browsers. Fedora 11 packs a next-gen file system, faster boot times, all the joys and pitfalls of Linux

Fedora 11 packs a next-gen file system, faster boot times, all the joys and pitfalls of Linux
It is more secure operating System :
Linux just gets sexier and sexier, and Fedora 11 just joined Ubuntu 9.04 in the ranks of super modern Linux distros released this year. Fedora doesn’t have all the desktop refinements of Ubuntu, or the wild popularity, but it does act as the underpinnings of Intel’s Moblin, and the Sugar OS, and doesn’t shy away from the future. Fedora 11 makes the bleeding edge ext4 filesystem the default for installs, which speeds performance and improves data integrity — Ubuntu offers ext4 as an option, but some application incompatibilities have caused data loss More »

How To: Install Windows 7 Beta

May 24th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Operating Systems, trics install windows

This tutorial will guide you every step of the way through installing Windows 7 on your Mac using Parallels Desktop 4.0. Parallels Desktop for Mac allows you to run other Operating Systems (like Windows 7) in a virtual environment, while OS X is running at the same time. Though Windows 7 won’t run as fast in Parallels Desktop as it does via Boot Camp, it is a very easy way to get Windows 7 running on your Mac.

Back in February, I wrote an article for Gizmag titled How to install Windows 7 on an IdeaPad S10 (or other netbook) without a DVD drive, which got you up and running with the beta that was released in January.

It’s written with a Windows XP starting point in mind, but if you’re running Vista or the Windows 7 beta it’s even easier – you can skip the business with the HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool and just format the drive to NTFS using the built-in formatting tool by right clicking on the flash drive and hitting “Format”.

If you’re using Parallels Desktop for the first time, an Introduction window will appear. Otherwise, click File -> New Virtual Machine…. Click Continue.

On the Operating System Detection screen, select either the Real CD/DVD-ROM Drive option if you have Windows 7 burned to DVD (and make sure the disk is in your DVD drive). If you’re using an .iso image, select CD/DVD Image, click the Choose… button, navigate to your Windows 7 .iso file, select it and click OK. When you’re ready, click Continue.

Another alternative way to download is by using Namipan file hosting (net disk or web drive space) service. Namipan is a China based file hosting service. As the Windows 7 Beta1 full DVD ISO is in hot demand, the HTTP download has been disabled. Thus, those who intends to download the ISO through Namipan must download NamiRobot (some interface in English, mostly in Chinese), which also serves as a peer-to-peer (P2P) downloader. Download and install the NamiRobot by using one of the direct download links below:

Microsoft Vista Ultimate gets the (PRODUCT) RED treatment

December 8th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Operating Systems

It’s not like (PRODUCT) RED versions of Windows Vista haven’t been shipping on associated systems for months now, but for those who’d prefer to keep the rig they have and just get a colorful / charitable upgrade to Microsoft’s latest OS, this is for you. Listed on the official (PRODUCT) RED website and up for pre-order now at Amazon, the special edition of Windows Vista Ultimate is slated to ship on December 15th. There’s not too many extras here to make you splurge for a second copy (a few new wallpapers and a big warm, fuzzy feeling are definitely nice, though), but those looking to get a new OS and support the push to end AIDS in Africa can buy in now for $219.95 ($64.95 for students).
