Epson's WUXGA HTPS-TFT Panel hints at ultra-bright, high-contrast PowerLite projectors in September
As a leader in home cinema systems, it’s always a good idea to keep tabs on Epson’s core technologies as a preview of what’s coming up in next generation home theater projectors. Today Seiko-Epson announced the start of volume production for its 0.94-inch HTPS-TFT LCD capable of a WUXGA (1920 x 1200 pixel) resolution for 3LCD projectors pushing 1080p. The panel supports a brightness of 5000 lumens (or more!) using Epson’s D7 process technology while achieving “higher than ever contrast” through its C2 Fine inorganic alignment More »

130-Megapixel Camera Made From a Run-Of-The-Mill Scanner and an Ancient Lens

130-Megapixel Camera Made From a Run-Of-The-Mill Scanner and an Ancient Lens

The idea of a scanner-made camera is nothing super new, but concocting one which snaps photos at 130-megapixels is pretty amazing. That’s exactly what some Japanese dude with a touch of tech know-how accomplished.

Spyuge, the amateur photographer responsible for this DIY gem, says that he took a 1200 dpi Epson GT-S620 scanner, and an old Canon FD 50mm lens, fusing the two together to produce this. He said he chose that particular scanner because it has a CCD sensor, uses a camera-like lens of its own and uses LED lighting. In some of the shots, there’s obviously noticeable noise even at 800 or 1024 res, but all things considered, these photos are more than respectable.
Bouncing Red Ball also has a close-up zoom to show what kind of detail the camera setup can produce (SPOILER: it’s not shabby at all). For the few brave ones out there, you can also check out a full-resolution image for yourself. This is not for the faint of heart. In case you don’t want to do the (relatively basic) math, a 130-megapixel image calculates out to roughly a 13,000×10,000 resolution image.

Pentax K-7 DSLR camera Hands on gallery

The new 14.6 megapixel resolution offering will, Pentax confirmed site somewhere above the Nikon D5000 and the Canon 500D and below the Nikon D300 and Canon 50D.

Pentax is a name that will evoke fond memories for many photographers whose first SLR experience would have been with a Spotmatic, KM, K1000 or ME Super. Although the company’s market position isn’t as well entrenched as it was during the halcyon days of 35mm film, it continues to attract a devoted following of enthusiasts. And that following isn’t just based on nostalgia – Pentax is alone in having developed a comprehensive range of prime lenses for the APS-C format that dominates modern DSLR photography, while most of its competitors concentrate on offering a selection of zooms. Sony confirms new Alpha 230, 330 and 380 mainstream DSLRs

Canon PowerShot D10 Digital Camera » Shock And Awe Proof

The Canon PowerShot D10 Digital Camera is shock proof (allegedly). Meaning; you can drop it from a short height or have it flung (gently) against a wall and, all things being equal, it should remain unaffected.

Minox Digital Spy Camera For Covert Operations

minox-dsc

Minox of Germany is noted for their line of Leica cameras, and this time round the company decides to go covert with its DSC model, also known as the Digital Spy Camera in length. This isn’t a looker and neither will it offer highly detailed images from afar, as you get a mere 3.2 megapixel camera with 128MB of internal memory. There is no word on whether the Minox DSC comes with some sort of memory card slot, although we think that would be a great feature to have considering the rather limited internal memory and the possibility of recording videos with this. Pricing details are unavailable, but we do know the Minox DSC tips the scales at 90 grams and measures a diminutive 86mm x 21mm x 30mm.

Memories with your personal touch

December 8th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Digital Cameras, Stuff & Buzz

And it keeps getting better.

Just a few years back, we are bombarded with the idea of having our digital photos framed and displayed in our own households through a digital photo frame! It is indeed a bright idea since it saves space in our tabletops, time, energy and even photo paper to have our memories in black and white, figuratively of course.

And of course it doesnt stop there.
