Security on the Cheap!

February 22nd, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Application & Software

There are many of us that like the idea of having a home security system, but just can’t seem to get to breaking the bank to do it. yet. So if you would like to have an at home system for less than $40 bucks, you may want to consider this gadget that will fool would be intruders. It’s of course never going to be as good as a security system that’s installed into your home, however, it’ll at least help. This little box when flipped on simulates the flickering glow of a television. Which in most situations would be enough that burglars would move onto the next home. Since the path of least resistance is ideal, they’re not going to want to go into a home where someone is already home.

Yes, you could set a timer up to make your own TV flip on and off. . Its built-in microchip even simulates the scene changes, fades, swells, and color shifts of a TV as perceived from outside using a bright multi-color LED display diffused with an opalescent lens. However, this little lighted box uses 2% of the power used by your average television. There is also the option of getting a timer for your lights and it’d cost you about the same.

It just all depends on your personal preference and luckily the seller distributes both. So you can compare and choose the best choice for your home. Pick it up at Hammacher and Schlemmer for $39.95.

Sony Ericsson Idou Handset » Symbian Sony Surprise

The previously secret Sony Ericsson Idou was unleashed on the world a day before the World Mobile Congress starts. This means that it’s either so amazing that Sony Ericsson wants all your concentration before you get distracted by other phones to be revealed or, it’s so average that it will be swallowed up in all the telecommunication goodness about to be revealed so Sony Ericsson wants to grab some lime-light whilst it can. With scant information, we’re reserving judgment for now.

Canon PowerShot D10 Digital Camera » Shock And Awe Proof

The Canon PowerShot D10 Digital Camera is shock proof (allegedly). Meaning; you can drop it from a short height or have it flung (gently) against a wall and, all things being equal, it should remain unaffected.

HTC Magic Android G2 Handset » The G1 Evolved
